I got a hair cut today! It’s nice and short, close to the top of the back of my neck, no bangs, layered. I like it! The lady who cut my hair was really nice. The lady cutting my mom’s hair was also very nice. They started a conversation about dandelions and traffic and a whole bunch of topics, and apparently, in the 8 years the lady had been living in this town, she has had 17 mailboxes. People keep running over her mailbox and she has to replace them multiple times a year. She has a spare in her basement as well. The interesting people you meet in everyday life, huh? 🙂

I assumed that “Reinvention” was referring to how Pearl stopped acting servile (and for a lack of a better term “pearl-like”) but I think it could also refer to how she changed between the war and the present (aka she now knows how to be “strong in the real way” and is a lot less brutal than in her war days).
