What is Decade.tf?

Decade.tf
is a group of Team Fortress 2 community members from all around the world,
dedicated to helping everyone celebrate the 10th anniversary the game. There
are contributors and staff members from all different parts of the community,
different game modes, YouTube, Twitch, competitive players, and they’re all
working together to create something special for the community, as the game
draws closer to being a decade old.

What will they do doing?

Decade.tf
plans to host a stream, showcasing the many aspects, facets and communities of
TF2 over a ~24h period that have been created thanks to amazing community
efforts over the past years; hopefully with a lot of familiar faces.
(Intercontinental) Show matches, community created and officially added game
modes, TF2 trivia, jumping, surfing, playing pubs with legends and much more! Additionally, we’re still open to suggestions 😀

The event will also serve as a fundraiser, raising money for an amazing charity; SpecialEffect. They make video games accessible to everyone. This includes the many people they support with disabilities, who without SpecialEffect’s support, would not be able to enjoy games, and be included in the amazing culture surrounding them. Two thirds of proceeds will go to the SpecialEffect.

One third of the proceeds will also be set aside for a “community fund”. This will be used for contributing to major LAN’s and event’s prize pools in the future. Some of it may also be used to contribute to professional team’s travel expenses to these events.

What will the format going to be like?

The stream will be “split” into 3 sections; AU, EU, and NA. In each of these sections, the plan is to roughly repeat the schedule, but swapping out AU personalities for EU ones, and then NA. Although one of the main goals of the event is to promote the unity, and togetherness in the community, the decision was made to split the stream up a little for many reasons. One of which was that if people can watch a more local personality, at a more convenient local time, then it would be more likely to get their interest, as well as being more enjoyable to view. That being said, each section will be most definitely be very unique. Again, the schedule “repeat” should be pretty rough, so if viewers can catch more than their local time zone’s “section”, it should be worth the watch. 

When and Where can I see the event?

The
stream will be viewable on Twitch, and
also through a portal on the decade.tf website, which will appear after the
countdown ends.

The
event will take place on the 7th & 8th of October, the start time hasn’t
yet been set exactly, but hopefully the stream should start around 5pm for the
majority of viewer’s local time.

^Exactly. Please, when you see young girls who look like this, remember not to blame the literal children for their own oppression. They’re just trying to “fit in” and be accepted by their peers. Blame the fucking adults who sell them this image and profit from it.

This could be the end of the Internet as we know it. But it doesn’t have to be.

I do not reblog things like this very often, but this affects me both personally and my business as a freelance artist.

In the economy here; cash is already strapped as it is. You bet your ass companies would suck the ever living life out of misc. art sites.

I don’t want it to ever come down to me choosing between groceries or purchasing a new tier package via comcast to be able to access tumblr or DeviantArt (let alone not guaranteeing I’ll even be seen by my customer base since they may not want to pay out their asses either). It doesn’t seem important to most, but I do 90% of my business online entirely.

Please sign up, fight for this and share it with your followers/friends/family and urge them to give them hell as well.

Not writing related, but this is incredibly important. While we pay for service via ISPs, the internet has been a relatively free space where everyone, no matter their income level, is able to connect, access a wealth of information, and express themselves. The Internet has become a major part of our culture as human beings and the notion that ISPs might be able to limit what sites I can access unless I pay them more is utterly sickening. A lot of us are cash strapped as is, and I’d rather not be limited even more by someone else’s greed. Net Neutrality is essential and I hope you guys will understand why it needs to remain.

As I understand this ruling, it means that businesses now have to pay extra to ISPs to have access to their websites through that ISP provided at a reasonable speed. If you don’t pay, users’ access to your website will be slowed to a crawl – so independent people and small businesses can forget about getting onto that high speed access tier. 

This means that the American internet is going to be firmly under the control of those who have the most money. You’ll only get to see the content of those who can pay the ISPs to provide access at a reasonable speed. This means that you can expect to see skewed representation of just about everything, with those bigger businesses who can afford to pay ISPs a premium for access deciding what you can and cannot read, view and consume on the internet.

This is not something that we have in the UK. Our ISPs compete with each other to provide higher speeds, better services and lower prices, but because there’s a monopoly in the US of a few ISPs who provide services, they can afford to do this to you. You can’t go anywhere else, after all.

Everyone in the US needs to sign that petition, call their representatives, write angry letters and do whatever you can to tell your government that this ruling is Not Okay.

Maybe you guys are sick of this post but It’s really important to freelance artists and pretty much everyone who uses the internet, so here it is again.  o0o/

My super advanced mapmaking technique – a handful of dice makes the map nice

interesting method

My question is do the die affect topography any or just set the borders?

I imagine it’s up to the person making the map. But maybe the more dice in a single spot, the more mountainous or forested the area. Maybe choose a few dice to be deemed cities, and some dice for ruins.

Maybe let the dice choose, like a nat 20 would be the world capital, and 10’s would be mountains or something like that.

Starting June 30th, 2017, Tumblr users will no longer be able to log in to Tumblr using AT&T-affiliated email addresses! If that’s you, go get a new email address! The Tumblr Help Center had a list of domains that will no longer work, and instructions on how to switch to a new email address.

This isnt blog related, but most of my followers are on here, and I’m sure a fair chunk of y’all would like to know this

Having troubles with facial angles in your drawing style?

Try a 3D sculpture of your art in your own style in a free program that is simple and very easy to use.

The program is called Sculptris and is a free off-shoot program from Zbrush, that program that you keep hearing about but either takes selling your kidneys or piracy to actually use. 

If you download it and sculpt out a facial model, you can have references for your own work for all of time. No more endlessly searching Google for reference materials or twisting/rotating/flipping a drawing to see if there are flaws. And you can easily edit it to create more facial types. This way, you can make character references for any and every face and facial angle that you can think of.

The program offers mirroring right from the start, so your faces will be perfectly symmetrical. You can turn off the symmetry for things like scars or otherwise. 

It takes a little time. For instance, I downloaded the program on Christmas and, in my spare time, this took a few days of getting familiar with the program (first day) and then sculpting for a few minutes each day, mostly due to my perfectionist nature. And this one isn’t even done. I still have to mold the mouth, ears, and other smaller aspects before I consider it done. However, I was so giddy over the possibilities that I wanted to share this with my fellow artists.

From now on, I have reference for a face in my own style and will be able to create things so much easier in the future. 

I hope that this helps you guys and that you have fun with it.

This really useful oh my goodness. It takes a little figuring out, but once you get the hang of it it’s actually pretty easy. Just watch a couple youtube videos. Seeing how other people do it helps you to make sense of it.

OH BOY LOOK AT THIS HANDSOME SILLY do you know how hard his stupid face is to figure out at different angles? DO YOU??? Now I have a 3D ref!!! AAAHH!! so excite much 3d wow very angles wow

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: sculptris is an amazing 3D modeling tool for how small it is and is a great place to start whether you just want drawing references for your characters or you actually want to get into 3D modeling.

I highly recommend it.
