Hey. I live right down the street from this and theyre looking to turn it into a facility for veterans. Theres unfortunately some backlash from the surrounding community, and its hard to see from the pictures but the building sits next to a neighborhood. Its also across the street from an elementary school.
Some people in the neighborhoods are UPSET that this facility will be offering mental health care for veterans. Theyre upset that mentally ill people are going to be coming and going near a school. Most of this is being voiced on the neighborhood forums so I dont have links for it, apologies.
The nonprofit that is leasing the space for their project still needs donations because the building is vandalized on the inside. Mostly from kids from the surrounding neighborhoods breaking into it. Which I know because I went to school with them. Anyways. Good news, this space is being used to help people who need it. Bad news, people are ableist assholes.

The name of his store is Gonzalez Auto Center, and google/Facebook reviews are always a great way to show how we feel about people like him.
What did he do wrong here?
First of all, everyone commenting awful things on this mans google review for his auto repair shop are terrible miserable people. He has tons of great, positive reviews from actual costumers from months ago and then he has tons of negative reviews from 20 minuets ago from you gremlins written while the shop was closed.
I actually read the article.
This man, Frank Gonzalez, is an immigrant himself. “Gonzalez, who came to the United States from Cuba in 1971 with his family”. So if we’re going by leftist logic, you’re all racist for hating him.
He didn’t even call the police on the girl. The police were looking for her (Police look for people. It’s one of their many jobs, finding people. Especially a child, it’s pretty bad when they go missing. Normally rational thinking people consider missing children bad and the police finding missing children good.)
The girl wasn’t separated from her parents at the border by “evil” ICE agents. “She said she was from Honduras, and she has no family,”
The girl was crying in the corner of Gonzalez’s car repair shop for over an hour. “The girl ran into his shop and hid in a corner behind a large shelf full of tools. It was a busy morning at the large auto shop that operates 14 bays. But she stayed there, crying, for more than an hour on Friday morning, refusing to move.”
Car repair shops are not places for children to hide.
Car repair shops are dangerous.
This man is not racist. He did the right thing by telling the police where she was. She is now safe and not running the streets alone.
