Some info from a very light skinned Mexican 

•Spanish≠Latin@s from South America/Mexico. Spanish are people from Spain.

•THERE IS NOT JUST ONE WAY TO LOOK LIKE WHERE YOU’RE FROM. Not all Latin@s are dark skinned, and in fact there’s a lot who may have more European characteristics (ex. blonde hair)

•Don’t tell people they don’t look like where they’re from. It sucks, and it’s just unnecessary. Looking different doesn’t make any Latin@ less from where they’re from.

•There is a different between being white (as in white skin) and light skinned  (but there’s both in Latin America). Pointing out to someone who is either of these that they don’t look like the stereotype of their country is just shitty. stop.

“Not all latin@s are dark skinned”. Yeah we all know because Univision, telemundo, galavison, etc let’s us know on the daily.

White/lightest skinned latin@s are trash they’ll throw us under the bus at every chance they get just to prove to nonlatin@s they’re latin@ like shut up we’re tired of u repeating the obvious and if u have european characteristics (blond hair blue eyes) GUESS WHAT GUERA u r european like do u not know the history of colonization in our countries

idk where white latinxs get this false indignation and frustration from, as if recent events haven’t perfectly illustrated just how easy it is for white people to claim to be part of x ethnic group and have no one seriously question it lol. try being a black or Asian latinx and seeing the reaction you get from nonlatinxs and latinxs alike when you try to embrace that part of your identity

I’m glad they finally addressed it because I got really upset when some of the black-latinxs girls were walking around like they aren’t black and I’m tired of white latinxs walking around like their POC.

Was hoping she’d point to a brown woman and a black woman and go “they could be Latina too” but cool

Texas elementary school teacher write racist FB post. says she “almost wants to return to segregation and the 1950s”

Yes, that’s a real post from a real elementary school teacher in Texas responding to the mess in McKinney. Karen Fitzgibbons, an elementary school teacher at Bennett Elementary School, had the nerve, the racist gall, the ignorance, to log into Facebook and post that.

This is frightening as hell. Her school district is not an all-white town. This school, it has been confirmed, has black children. Even if she only taught white kids, it’s awful, but to know that black children are in a school with a teacher like this is just disgusting.

Fitzgibbons offered a half-assed apology in which she said she already apologized to everyone that mattered. Ummmmm. Really? Who?

“It was not an educational post; it was a personal experience post,” Fitzgibbons said, adding she has a personal connection to the McKinney situation, but declined to elaborate.

She added: “I apologized to the appropriate people,” declining to identify those people.

This woman absolutely needs to be fired. These views are racist, offensive, and disgusting. She is in clear violation of school policy, seen below.

“If an employee’s use of electronic media interferes with the employee’s ability to effectively perform his or her job duties, the employee is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment,” the policy states.
