I wonder how much Toby Fox hates us now

toxicspeka:

Undertale was a sweet fandom with ambiguous genders and the choices to be neutral, passive, or no mercy.

First, we kinda screwed up when we tried to sell Undertale artwork/merchandise when Toby said not to. And they had to do this multiple times, but finally the sells started dying down.

Then, we started arguing over if Frisk was a boy/girl, trans, ace, or whatever else. Frisk is a character with short hair, yellowish/tan skin, wears a striped sweater, and pants or shorts. In-game you can wear a cowboy hat, a manly bandana, boxing gloves, dusty tutus, a bandage, dancing slippers, an apron, and a whole lot of other crap.
None of that gives Frisk a straight-away gender, but that doesn’t mean people can draw Frisk as female or male if they want to. They’re having fun, just like it’s fun for someone else to draw ambiguous Frisk.

And now it’s Down With Cis/Hate?
I mean
Shut up. Seriously.
Down With Cis was a stupid thing to begin with. Just because you accept your gender at birth doesn’t mean you’re automatically the scum of the Earth and that you instantly hate everyone not cis.
Down With Hate is ok, I guess. I don’t really care, so I don’t have much to say on that.
But, really,
Keep Undertale out of it. Toby did NOT want a good portion of the fandom to fret over cis hate over an over and manage to incorporate it with their characters.
Toby wanted Undertale to die out slowly, and just really fade away. Similar to the OFF fandom. There are a lot of us, we’re just really quiet.

Don’t make everyone leave the Undertale fandom. Its a good fandom, a good game, with a good creator and characters.
Just keep it under control people.

for everyone who doesn’t remember why down with cis became a meme

for everyone who doesn’t know that the person responsible for it in the first place knew full well that they were joking about being violently transphobic, while trying to paint us as the aggresors

literally immediately after that intentionally misgendered me and then joked about running me over with a train when i, a trans woman, tried calling them out on this shit

talked about how they wanted to call everyone bro and intentionally misgender somebody else for shits and giggles

and here’s the thing

trans people, we’re like… used to this by now, lmao

all of this

all the time, online and offline

so we take this thing meant to hurt us by this awful person, and turn it into a joke: so we can laugh at the audacity of it all

and yet we’re still the bad guys?

ok, then

jeancrocker:

I’m absolutely sick of people drawing Steven and Frisk with “Down With Cis” shirts. These two are the last people to wear those shirts.

“Down With Cis” isn’t funny or cute or whatever. As a trans person, it disgusts me. It doesn’t matter that it started out as a joke. People are taking it seriously. Cis people aren’t any sort of enemy. Transphobes are.

Spread love, everybody.

If hair braiding isn’t taught in many beauty schools, why does the government force black women to go (and pay thousands) to get a cosmetology license? What’s worse is not doing so could result in a $10,000 fine and a year in prison. Since the 1990s, the Institute for Justice has been fighting for hair braiders — and a new legal showdown in Iowa could be their biggest yet.

“Of Iowa’s 27 cosmetology schools, not one school offers specific coursework on natural hair care for black women or braiding in particular.”

ok i’m seeing a lot of people still do this so i want to clear up a misconception:

both frisk and chara are non-binary and use “they” pronouns. neither of them are intended to be avatars of the player and neither of them you’re ultimately intended to project your own gender on

the game wants you to think this – it wants you to assume frisk is the character you named at the beginning of the game, and it wants you to project on frisk and then later on chara when it’s revealed chara is the human you named  – but it’s to mess with you. neither of these are true.

frisk’s entire character is about how they aren’t you – they’re their own independent person, who maintained their own independent personality in spite of their hardships and who ultimately lives on as their own person. that’s why the narration in the mirror says “it’s still you” and “still just you, frisk.” it’s kind of like raiden in mgs2, when him throwing the dog togs with your name on them away at the game’s ending was meant to show how he wasn’t under your control anymore

chara’s character is the same way. without getting too deep into the more complicated chara meta, you’re tricked into inputting the name you usually do in rpgs – which is probably your own name – because the entire game is about the relationship between the player and the characters you control in rpgs. chara’s behavior, for good or ill, is reflective of your actions – that is why, in no mercy, they refer to “your guidance” as being what drives them.

but chara is not you either, in any route. in no mercy, they become more powerful than you, and if you give them your soul they take control of the timeline – if they’re you, that makes no sense. in the pacifist route, they are clearly and consistently shown to be their own character with their own history and personality that’s not your own, just like frisk. and, just like frisk, characters such as asriel and the monsters refer to chara consistently with they pronouns.

in short: stop misgendering frisk and chara. it’s really not hard to refer to them with the correct pronouns, the same way as the game does, and if you’ve beaten the game i really don’t think you have an excuse to keep doing this

What? No Toby Fox himself said that the character is basically supposed to be you and you project yourself on the character? Freaking Frisk is AMBIGOUS for the PLAYER to decide. Frisk is in no way shape or form non-binary in canon, they are whoever the player wants to be! Stop gatekeeping Frisk, if this is your interpretation, GREAT! But do NOT say that people can’t use he/she pronouns because NO WHERE IS IT STATED IN CANON THAT FRISK IS NON BINARY! GIVE ME CANON EVIDENCE THAT OUT RIGHT SAYS FRISK IS NON BINARY AND CAN ONLY USE THEY/THEM PRONOUNS!

Toby fox says to use your own name for the name of the fallen child.

Do not gate keep.

Do NOT become another SU fandom.

@takashi0

“Stop misgendering Frisk and Chara”

That is impossible because THEY HAVE NO CANON GENDER.

THEY CAN BE LITERALLY WHATEVER YOU WANT.

STOP BEING GATEKEEPING ASSHOLES.

>2000 notes and everyone is agreeing with this tripe

C’mon, kids, don’t do this.  You wanna interpret Frisk/Chara as non-binary, that’s cool, knock yourself out, but don’t do this “MY HEADCANON IS TRUE AND EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG” shit.

Be better than that.

I just read this super sad post about this girl who’s asexual and married and everyone is basically telling her that she doesn’t deserve her husband/she’s just a prude/she should just do it anyway.
So I want to tell you all right now that if people tell you this, or if they tell you you’ll never have a relationship, it is BULLSHIT.
My husband is asexual and I’m not. He’s sex repulsed, we don’t have sex, we never have.
And it doesn’t matter to me. You know what does? He does. His mental health and wellbeing matter to me. Because he is my best friend and he’s one of the smartest, kindest, funniest people I’ve ever met. And he’s had people tel him that he’s broken and it makes me SO ANGRY because they are WRONG.
Being different doesnt mean you’re broken.
If you don’t like sex/don’t want it/etc. Do not let anyone tell you that you’re inferior because you’re not.
Do not let anyone convice you that you’ll never have a relationship because they’re wrong(if you want one).
You are not broken, and it will be okay.

This made me feel really good. Remember this, for all my ace spectrum friends out there

#it’s really reassuring to hear from the partner #the one who’s not ace #but is totally cool with having no sex #loves her husband anyway #is in a stable and happy relationship #it’s such a relief when you discover that asexuality is a thing #that you’re okay #but then you start to wonder if it means your only chance at not ending up alone is finding someone else who’s also ace #but no #turns out it’s not #that’s really good to hear #so #thanks #so ace #so space

I hope you don’t mind me reblogging your tags but these are my feelings EXACTLY

I’m always a little nervous that I’m not “good enough” for a “real relationship” because sex isn’t on the table. So yeah, these stories are reassuring

The amount of pressure from society to have sex is incredible. We’re told it’s linked to relationship health and if you’re not willing to do every damn thing you’re labeled a prude. It’s incredibly disheartening, especially considering how one’s libido can change over the years even if you’re not ace. Nice to see a supportive piece from a partner.

I’ll never forget when my 8th grade English teacher wouldn’t let a girl go to the bathroom and he saw the tampon in her hand and goes “oh so you were trying eat candy with out sharing with the rest of us, go ahead open it and share with everyone” and she looked so embarrassed so she responds with “I can’t open it now and share the candy because it’s a tampon for my bleeding vagina” and my teacher just stared at her in horror as she left the room.

Realigning for the tampon story
