“In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines
Lived twelve little girls in two straight lines
In rain or shine
They left the house at half past nine
The smallest one was Madeline.”
-Ludwig Bemelmans, Madeline, 1939
I would like to share a sampling of the graduation project that I had so much fun illustrating! It’s an old series, but one of my childhood favorites. There has been a TV series and a live action film, but never a modern-ish animated feature, and it was a bit of a passion project to imagine what it would look like, down to the character designs and the actual scenes.
Also, I might have some good news to announce soon… keeping my fingers crossed in the meantime! ♪
Edit to talk about my headcannon for these two having an adorably mutually awkward relationship.
Sardonyx ADORES Amethyst and just gushes about her to anyone who will listen. But she’s also super insecure and thinks Amethyst is 120% too cool for her, so she tries way too hard and inevitably puts her giant foot in her mouth.
Like, “Oh AMETHYST you are just soooo soft, like a big purple poodle! But I guess if you were a poodle I’d actually be able to teach you tricks, ohhohohoho! Oh well, as long as you’re housetrained, right?!” *knows she has f****ed up* *sweats profusely* *awkward laughter increases*
Meanwhile, Amethyst plays it off but she is actually pretty conflicted about all the affection. On the one hand, having Pearl and Garnet give her so much praise and attention is kind of all she’s ever wanted.
On the other hand Amethyst is thinking “Oh god no, why does it have to be like this, she won’t shut up, she won’t stop ToUChInG MEEE, this is SO EMBARRASSING, please don’t stop”
A bunch of sketches that were done in a stream a little while ago. It got to the point where we talked about chunky baby dragons with big clunky heads. Very fun little chat!
Sculptures I made of Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends characters Wilt, Eduardo, and Bloo. The last time I posted this it was cut out on a white background and didn’t look right.
